Welcome to the SIDRE Documentation
What is SIDRE?
The Search Index for Distributed Repositories (SIDRE) is a software system with which metadata from distributed repositories can be collected, harmonized, indexed, and made searchable in a search index. This allows resources from different repositories to be searched quickly and easily at the same time.
The metadata of the search index is available through an open API, enabling efficient data querying and integration for other systems. SIDRE itself also contains a frontend that enables the data to be searched and displayed via browser.
The metadata schema is configurable, allowing various application- and usage-scenarios to be realized with SIDRE. Examples include the “OER search index for higher education” oersi.org and the “Research Software, Data and Terminologies” search index resodate.org.
SIDRE is an open-source project, licensed under the MIT license and can be used and further developed by anyone.
